This document is still in an early stage, and as such is likely to contain sections which may confuse readers due to a lack of supporting content elsewhere on the site, relevant context for various points made, and / or an otherwise confusing choice of parlance.

While hereto unfinished, it was decided that making the content available sooner, rather than later, would provide benefit to those readers who are also exploring this crooked path.

General Information

The Stardust Compass's seasonal cycle is unlike that of others where there is mating, death and rebirth, partnership, etc. It is a cycle where one god will reign while another slumbers¹, neither ever awake at the same time as the other. The sabbats in which the Scarlet Beast reigns and is empowered focus on sex and death, blood magick and the witchcraft of mankind and beasts. The sabbats in which the Verdant Wild reigns and is inflamed focus on growing and manifesting, wort magick and the witchcraft of root and leaf. All sabbats wherein the Wilds or Beast are newly awakened focus on oracular workings to better foresee the coming season and what the witch should or should not do in order to better align themselves with the destiny they seek.

The Four Lesser Sabbats

At the lesser-holidays² before the cross-quarter sabbat, the reigning deity are newly in their power and offer forth oracle as to where they will be when the sabbat manifests and how we can best be in alignment with those forces within ourselves and the world around us. These rites are best conducted at a full moon (or nearest one) to aid in oracular workings.
During the lesser-holidays, the dreaming deity are available (best accessed at the nearest dark moon) for magicks pertaining to their spheres of influence, but to a lesser extent than during the greater-holidays.

These four holidays are best for scrying and divination for the time to come, as well as offerings to help empower and strengthen the reigning deity to ask them to look favorably upon all as their reign gains power. Offerings of sacrifice of charms and talismans made 7 sabbats prior³ can be very potent as well. This also aids the witch in being able to fully open themselves up for the energies of the upcoming sabbat in which the newly reigning deity will be fully empowered, and readies them to make any fresh charms or magicks they might manifest.

The four guardians of the compass also factor into these holy rites, in a way not yet revealed.

The Four Greater Sabbats

At the greater-holidays⁴ the reigning deities are fully in their power, likely manifesting most / all of their oracles (unless the witch intentionally did work and / or magick to manipulate their manifestation in accordance with their desires).  These four holidays are best for powerful magicks and charm creation based on the energies of the season. Forces and effects already in play are difficult to modify at these four holy days when what was is now what is. These rites are best conducted at a full moon (or nearest one) to aid in increasing the manifestations brought forth using these forces.

The dreaming deity are powerfully available (best accessed at the nearest dark moon) for magicks pertaining to their spheres of influence.

Katernea

Reign: Ka’anin Vaesh inflamed as Anin Casena
Dreaming: Ka’braeh Zet slumbers as Braeh Azara

Corresponding Neopagan Sabbat: Imbolg / Candlemas
Pronounced: Ka’turn Ee Ah

The Verdant Wilds, as Ze of Seed, is growing forth and begins to stir beneath the frozen grounds. Ze rules over this season as a Ze of inspiration and new beginnings. The Scarlet Beast lies dreaming as Ze of Stars, showering new emanations down onto the land from above.

Seasonal Practices

  • Jump over a candle flame. If the flame does not go out, you will have good luck for the year.
  • While entranced, allow the center of the candle flame to become a portal and either enter into the Otherworld through it, or beckon spirits from beyond into our world.
  • Drip wax into a vessel of cold water to read as omen.
  • Replace the candle upon the Stang, but do not transfer the flame from the old candle unto the new. Instead, have the old candle remain unlit between Dingara and Katernea (if possible) then melted and three drops from it added to the new candle before lighting (at it’s base) as a transference of the foundation of the previous year’s learning into the new flame but allowing a new and unique spark of creation to manifest in the new candle’s flame for the new cycle.

The Scarlet Beast, newly awakening as the Ze of Sex, offers forth visions of Zer coming dominion over beast and man, and how they will mate, breed, and cultivate in Zer upcoming rulership.

The Verdant Wilds, fully manifested now as seeds move to sprouts and buds, slumbers as the Ze of Skull, bringing forth new souls from the lands below to be born forth in the budding springtime.

The Scarlet Beast, as Ze of Spear rules this season. Ze leads the wild hunt and draws forth souls, both wandering and verging on death, to the gates of the Underworld where the Ze of Skull takes them into Zer dark care in the lands below.

The Verdant Wilds slumbers as Ze of Skull, taking forth the dead into Zer deep realm where they shall be washed clean of their heavy past and (if they wish) prepare to be renewed and resown back into the land, beast, and man above in the coming springtime.
